The Moodle virtual learning environment is a very powerful tool for the development and provision of eLearning, whether used for courses delivered completely online or to support classroom based learning.
Making the Most of Moodle: 2 - Onwards (MMM2) is a short online courses aimed at teachers, lecturers and other educators who have begun to explore Moodle as an aid to their teaching, but who want to develop their skills a little further. MMM2 builds on the skills and knowledge developed in Making the Most of Moodle: 1 - Getting Started (MMM1)
MMM2 focuses on the inclusion of resources, particularly those created in Microsoft Word, PowerPoint - Ideal for making the best use of materials you have already created.
As with MMM1 this course is practical, hands-on, with all materials and resources provided, although you are encouraged to provide your own teaching materials.
You are also provided with full course creation rights to a course space in a Moodle environment.
Outline
By the end of this course you will:
- understand how files are stored and accessed in Moodle;
- be able to explore the options with using Microsoft Powerpoint and Microsoft Word files in Moodle;
- understand and be able to use the blocks facility on the course home page; and
- begin to explore ways to use Moodle in the classroom.

Who should take this course?
This course is aimed at teachers, lecturers, professors or tutors who want to use Moodle to support their teaching. It is also aimed at potential tutors and course writers for the New Curiosity Shop. It is advisable to have taken Making the Most of Moodle: 1 - Getting Started.
You will need
You will need access to an Internet-enabled computer and a printer. You will also need Adobe Acrobat and Flash Player installed, and you will also need a ‘zip’ program such as Winzip on your PC (Mac users have an archive function built in). You are also encouraged to have your own Microsoft Word or PowerPoint files to hand.
Entry Requirements
This is a follow-on course from Making the Most of Moodle: 1 - Getting Started, and it is advisable that you take that course first, or are familiar with the basics of creating a simple course in Moodle. Contact us if you need advice.
How long is this course?
About 6 hours,
and we suggest you set aside about 4 hours a week - but it's up to you.
You will have tutor support for 2 months.
